What a great shout out from 2Peas!! They love MLS over there and they just got ALL the new lines, we even made Kristina's picks.

Bright colorful papers are in my picks again this week. I can't seem to stay away from them at the moment. I have always been attracted to the brighter patterns, as spring approaches, this attraction has only grown.

The new My Little Shoebox products are in my picks this week. They released 4 new collections, all of them theme based. 4 papers per collection, one round die cut to match (always a scalloped edge, but pattern varies with each collection), a strip paper, an all over pattern paper, and then a paper with larger icons on it. These are almost really meant to be cut outs versus an actual whole sheet of paper. I saw some very neat samples in their booth at the show this winter where they even used these as the decoration for a card or mini book cover. They are really a die cut. you can pop dot them, layer them, use them as you would a die cut. I like that My Little Shoebox has a B side, (again with my B side obsession), that has a coordinated color and pattern to the collection. These are almost always a tone on tone pattern for them. Which is something I really like. I don't use solid colored cardstock usually, so if I am looking for a solid color feel I lean towards the tone on tone patterns. My Little Shoebox papers are always bright in color and feel. Some of the colors this time remind me of the tropics, the matching letter stickers being very bright like a fruity drink with an umbrella in it.

The coordinating Mini Alpha stickers are also in my picks this week. There have been several companies that have done the mini alpha stickers, My Little Shoebox ones are varying fonts, and are glossy rather than a matte finish. The darker colors tend to have white letters and the lighter colors have black letters. I like to use these as part of a larger title, for those connecting words "and" and "or" or for "the" in the titles. I also like them for dates. I have seen people use these in other ways, as part of a ransom letter title, bits and pieces of word lists, or parts of their journaling. I noticed that some people use their sewing machine to attach them as well. There are so many different ways to use these little letters. I like the versatility of them.

I also picked the die cuts that coordinate with the My Little Shoebox collections. I have always liked these from them, actually, I have always liked die cuts in general. But these originally caught my eye when we first picked up the My Little Shoebox collections last year, because they had a quote bubble die cut. At the time, I didn't see many of those and it was a new trend that I was being pulled towards. I like the die cut sheets, as they match the paper collections but also have a large variety of sizes and styles per sheet. Borders, photo corners, journal tags and quote bubbles. Some have little characters or icons from the collections on them and some don't.

To match these papers this week, I also picked some of the Bella Blvd paper collections. The Flirty collection, the Spring and Celebration collections are among my favorites. Again, they are bright. and tone on tone. The larger polka dot is one that I could use over and over again. I also picked the alpha stickers. I like the size of this font. Its a 2 inch high font, but also narrow. I like using all different fonts and sizes of alpha stickers when I am making titles on my layouts. I have been using a lot more longer titles in the last year, and so mixing up the fonts has been fun. You get a lot of letters per sheet, with both upper case and lower case.

My last pick this week is another Doodlebug letter series. This is Shin Dig, and only part of this series is glittered, which is the set I chose for this week. I will pick the flocked one another time. I love this font, again, mixing it up. I like that within the set of stickers, the font is even mixed up a bit, where some letters are cursive. I like mixing up the upper case and lower case in my title as well. This set is only in a limited number of colors in the glittered. I actually like that, and really like that one of the colors is the orange. There really is not a lot of orange letter stickers out there when you start to look for them. I am not a huge huge fan of glitter. I don't use a lot of it, but I don't mind it occasionally in a title like this. I like the change of texture when using more than one font in the title.

On this layout, I only ended up using the circle die cut paper from the monster collection. I really liked that this one had the lines on it, and when I pulled this photo out, I knew I wanted to do a lot of journaling, so using this large lined paper as my "journaling spot" worked out really well. I cut a lot of strips of the other papers and just moved them around a lot on my desk surface trying to work this one out. I liked it rather plain and didn't want to add too much to it, but also felt that it was too bare. I ended up with a lot of scraps that I didn't actually use. Those that I did use, I ran through my sewing machine (ended up sewing another layout to it, that I had underneath this one) or glued down quickly before I changed my mind. I balanced out the larger circle with the 2 quote bubbles in the top corner. Simply, they have hearts in them, love. :) The 2 little monsters in the lower corner may seem a bit out of place, but the journaling reads that these 2 love to watch "monster" movies together, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, the Muppets.... etc.
