So Alike with Aiko

Hi My Little Shoebox fans, it’s Monique today with an AIKO layout for you!

I don’t know about you, but I think that 90% of my layouts feature my kids (why would that be? :):):)) 8% of the layouts feature my husband and/or me and our doggie, BUT only 2% is about others. When I realized that, I found it rather shocking … only 2 layouts out of 100 are about other people I also love very much, but just “forget” to scrap about.

So for today I decided to scrap a page about someone who (sadly) belongs in this “2%” range … my sister! I have only one sister and she’s the best sister you can wish for! I’m deeply ashamed I haven’t scrapped more pages about her, but I definitely will in future!

Here she is, with her beautiful daughter:

For the layout I chose the Aiko line as I love the colors, but also because it’s so feminine and therefore just perfect for my sister and niece.

Up In The Trees in Scotland

Hello MLS fans!

Today I am sharing some fun from Bonny Scotland with you all.  This picture of a Heilin' Coo (Highland Cow) chewing a thistle is all things Scottish to me.

I love The Up In The Trees collections with it's outdoor feel so decided to use them for the layout.

The circle in the back is created by cutting off the scallops from the Fly High paper.  This is perfect for when you maybe don't want to have a floral feel to a layout.

I also love the way that you can cut out little birds, trees and leaves and create a 3D effect.  For the trees I cut a few out before layering them up with foam pads

I created the subtitle by using the wording from the Free As A Bird paper and mixing it with some of the mini alphabets.

I hope this inspires you to take a snap of what a place means to you and rush for your MLS supplies to record it .......

Summers Gone By With Happy Go Lucky

I love scrapbooking ... do you? hee hee ;)  

I love the way that each time you create a page and look at the photos these little memories flood back which make you smile to yourself or even maybe let out a huge chuckle!

The Happy Go Lucky collection reminds me of European countries so are perfect for my memories of summers gone by when we visit Italy.

The little circular alphabets are perfect for creating tiny subtitles.  You can give them some depth by adding them with foam pads.

I twisted some of Bakers Twine together to acts as a border for the photograph.

Seed beads are perfect for fine detail on your layout.  You will need to use a clear glue and tweezers to add them to your page.  Even though it takes a while to add them the results are worth it!

Hey there MLS fans, Are you as excited about the new CHA releases than I am?? I sure hope so as they are looking AMAZING.

This month I worked with the Aiko Collection which is just fabulous I love the colours you can use them soft or vibrant and the designs have such a great versatility.

 

 

try using punched borders as layers on your pages to add some texture.

 

 

Next up I desgined another layout using the same punched technique but in a slightly different way and using the more vibrant colours from the collection.

 

Lastly I have a circle card

I really love the cut out tags... I use them alot for my backgrounds :)

Lovely Cards with Happy Go Lucky

Hello MLS fans, here's Rô Philippsen today!
I am excited to share with you some lovely cards I did with the adorable and sweet collection "Happy Go Lucky".

This collection is so versatile that you can create all kinds of cards for many occasions.

I LOVE the colors an the Roll-Up Flowers, they are just perfect for this "Thanks" card.

This Cardstock Sticker is gorgeous, Tell me if this bike is not beautiful?

I just needed to add some buttons and ribbon to create this card.

The contrast between the colors of patterned papers is also perfect.

Create and Inspire canvases with the Keepsake Collection

 

Hi it's Jenifer here with you today to share a couple canvases and a couple cards with you.  This month I had so much fun using the Keepsake collection.  It was so hard picking out just a few of my favorite pieces so I think I used every single one of them.

First up are the canvases.  These canvases measure 6x6 and I just made them out of scraps of wood and some canvas that I had laying around.  I then decorated them with papers, ribbons and paints.  I had so much fun making these and my Daughter has already claimed them for her room :)  They look like mini hanging quilts and I just love them.

Next I have a couple of cards.  I made these cards on a long card trip that I took with my family.  I figured that since I was going to be stuck in the car for 5 hours I might as well get something done:)

More Up in the Trees Inspiration!

The Up in the Trees collection is just full of possibilities. Earlier I, Megan, created a mini album and double page layout with it, so this month I went in a different direction with an altered item - gift and tag, and two cards! 

For this altered item I used a paper mache box that my grandmother gave my daughter for valentines day, filled with candy. I peeled as much of the valentines covering off as possible, to make the lid fit, and then covered it with the Up in the Trees papers and tied a big blue ribbon around the top.

Then I added a custom tag, tied with twine and stamped with a sentiment and some fun popsicles.

For this card, I took advantage of the die cuts, using the clouds and spiral flower. The sentiment and little green square with the tree I cut from the Free as a Bird paper. A little bit of machine stitching gives this card a finished look, but overall, it was very simple, thanks to the die cuts and cut apart sentiment.

This card has a totally different feel. I chose the paler papers to give it a more sophisticated look. Again I used the die cuts for the flowers and the scalloped trim. The extra branch was die cut from the back of the In the Trees paper.

Up in the Tree cards!

Hi My Little Shoebox fans, it’s Monique today with a few “Up in the Trees” cards for you.

How I loved creating these cards. The Up in the Trees collection is so versatile and so colorful that the possibilities are endless. I made cards for different occasions.

First an “Hello” card:

I love to use the roll-up flowers not “rolled-up”, just stack them on top of each other with some foam adhesive.

For this card I used My Little Shoebox, Up in the Trees: Free as a Bird, Woodgrain Love, My Way, Bird’s Eye View, Ruby, 3D Roll-Up Flowers.

Other: Cardstock (Bazzill Basics), Bird and Bird Cage Dies (Quickutz), Labels (Nestabilities), Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Twine (The Twinery), Stamp (Doodlebug), Ribbon (Prima Marketing), Button (Misc.).

The second card is a “Just Because” card:

How I love to pull out my dies when I’m making cards! And doesn’t the bird look sweet on that bicycle?

Supplies: My Little Shoebox, Up in the Trees: Free as a Bird, My Way, Bird’s Eye View, Ruby, Heart on a String, Brownie. Cardstock bird sticker (My Little Shoebox, Keepsake), Mini Alphabet stickers (My Little Shoebox).

Then my third card, an “I love you” card:

For this card I used the negative space that was left when I had punched some hearts for the “just beacause” card I showed you above.

Supplies: My Little Shoebox, Up in the Trees: Free as a Bird, Woodgrain, Ruby, Mini Alphabet Stickers, Sprinkle Glaze Alphabet Stickers.

Other: Cardstock (Bazzill Basics), Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug),Twine (The Twinery), Pen (Zig writer), Heart and Heart punch (Misc.).

For my fourth card I chose to create an “Hurray” card:

For this card I used again the roll-up flowers NOT rolled-up. Love the result!

Other: Cardstock (Bazzill Basics), Ink (ColorBox), Border Punch (Martha Stewart), Doily & Bead (Misc.).

And last but not least, my fifth card is a “Sweet” card:

For this card I layered 6 different kinds of paper of which the white cardstock is embossed. And in this case I did roll-up the roll-up flower! The centre of the flower is a bead from my stash.

Other: Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Punch (Martha Stewart), Pen (Zig), Bead (Misc.).

I truly loved every minute I was busy creating these cards, as this collection is so fun! The patterns, the colors, the birds … I love them all! Hope you do too!

A Birthday Theme with Keepsake

Hello everyone, Beckie here today and I'd like to share with you my projects that I have made using the Keepsake collection.  I really do love the music notes and little birds which feature on some of the papers.  I love the mix of colours too, so bright and cheery!  

We have this Musical Birthday Hat which is passed around the family for them to wear on their special day .... this time it was my MIL's turn and the colours matched perfectly with the Keepsake papers!!

I cut out the centre of the scallop circle so that the background paper could be seen.  I used a small section of the cut out again at the base of the circle but have saved the rest for some cards.

The scalloped border, which is on the 3D flower sheet, is great for adding some texture to the layout, I added some adhesive gems in the centre of each of the scallops.

For the next project I decided to use the scallop circle differently.  This time I cut it in to equal sections,  just as you would with a pizza.  I decorated each of the sections up before I glued them together.

I used the journal tags on the Keepsake - Simple Treasures as background pieces for the chipboard letters which are covered in the Garden Delight paper and a thin layer of glitter.  You can make the banner as long as you wish, this one helped to celebrate my daugthers birthday.

A "Lovely Day" needs Candle Light!

Hi there My Little Shoebox friends! It’s Monique here with a few fun “Lovely Day” projects just before the start of the weekend!

First off my favorite project for today: an altered Candle Holder.

This candle holder was a present I got about a year ago. Although I think it’s beautiful as it is, I decided to give it a more personal touch and dress it up a bit.

When I saw those awesome 3D Roll-Up Flowers I knew exactly what I was going to do! I started with 4 strips of paper (one with a punched border), layered them on top of each other and machine sewed them together:

Then I created the centerpiece, using a hand cut journaling spot (New Story) as my base and attaching 3D Roll-Up Flowers, some die-cut flowers, banner pieces, a sentiment and a bird cage sticker:

I attached this to the strip of paper and finished it off with more flower and bird stickers from the Cardstock Sticker sheet:

And this is the result:

But wait, there’s more! I have also created 2 cards for you: a birthday card and a card for a good friend.

I don’t know about you, but I for one, almost always forget to send people birthday cards. I think it’s because I don’t want to buy them, but make them myself and then I forget about it until it’s too late. So what did I do today? I created a birthday card in advance AND a card for a good friend whose birthday card I forgot.

First the birthday card:

This 5”x 5” card exists of a white cardstock base, 2 layers of paper (Chocolate & Easy Breezy), a doily, a punched birdcage (Chiffon), a (border) punched strip of brown Chocolate paper, a straight strip of yellow Chiffon paper, a punched brown Chocolate vine, a hand cut journaling spot (New Story), a punched out pink Raspberry bird and a sentiment cut from the “New Story” sheet. I finished it off with a piece of twine (The Twinery) and a self-adhesive pearl for the eye (Inkido).

And my other card:

This one measures 5”x 6” and has a white cardstock base as well. Followed by a piece of Raspberry and (the B side of) Let The Sunshine, a punched doily (B side Easy Breezy), 3 dove tails (Raspberry, B side of Seeds of Happiness, B side New Story), some punched leaves (B side Happy Together), 2 clouds (Cardstock Stickers), a hand cut journaling spot (Cardstock Sticker), 3 3D Roll-Up Flowers, a sentiment (Words-On-The-Go K&Company) attached with a mini clothes pin for the finishing touch and letter stickers also from the Cardstock Sticker sheet. The hearts of the flowers are filled with little beads.

All these projects are created with the “Lovely Day” collection. Don’t you just love this collection?!!
