Hello everyone! It's Megan, excited to be here with my first post!
I love how versatile the Up in the Trees collection is. It is by no means an 'Easter' line, but when I saw it sitting next to my Easter Egg hunt photos, I couldn't resist! The colors are more vibrant than traditional Easter pastels, and accented the vibrant green of the grass.
I rarely do double page layouts, but with all of these photos, I knew that's what I needed to do. The great patterns made it come together easily!
Here is a closer view of the left side. For the banner, I cut strips of various papers in a variety of lengths and widths. Some of them I added a notch to the end. I distressed them all and then layered them before sewing them down. I used just a little bit of adhesive to hold them down while I was sewing. I also sewed all the way around the outside of the finished page. I use my sewing machine on just about every page, but you could add faux stitching and get a similar effect.
Here is a closer view of the right side. To break up the yellow and draw the eye to the center, I added a strip of white cardstock to the middle. It looked a little TOO white though, so I used a background stamp dipped in glimmer mist, to add a little texture. An added bonus is that it complements the honeycomb pattern on the rest of the background.
