Tuesday Tutorial with Linda

Hi everyone!  Linda here with a tutorial using crayon resist for a fun, colorful technique.  Here is the card I made, using the Let the Sunshine and Seeds of Happiness from the My Little Shoebox "Lovely Day" collection.

 

Step 1:  Using a smooth white piece of paper suitable for stamping, randomly stamp several line flowers (or butterflies, etc.) on the strip of paper.  Then, borrowing the white crayon from your child's craft box, color in the petals of the flowers and centers, leaving some small spaces clear.  Use a permanent ink, such as StazOn, and let it dry for about 10 minutes before applying the wax crayon.

 

Step 2:  Using a yellow ink pad, such as Memento or Distress and a dabber, ink up a part of the paper strip.

 

Step 3:  Using a blue, or any compatible color, add ink to the strip, blending portions as you go.

 

 Step 4: Immediately rub over the entire strip with a paper towel or napkin, especially over the flowers, and watch them brighten and stand out.

You can use any size of paper strips to any layout, project, or card.  This technique is fun to do, easy, and can even be used to design a background for a card. 

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  Try different color combinations, stamps, and even varied crayon colors!

Friendship Jar-Aiko

Hi,

Jenifer here with you today with my first My Little Shoebox post.  I am so excited to share this super cute "Friendship Jar" that I made using the Aiko collection.  The little girls in the Aiko collection were just perfect and I wanted to showcase them in a unique way.  I found a cute little jar and using the cardstock stickers started adding layers until I was satisfied with my placement.  I then started working on the outside using twine and Zots to keep everything in place.

I am learning with You

Hello MLS fans, it's Rô Philippsen sharing with you a layout I did that to me is very special!

This layout I did for Mother's Day, using the amazing MLS Keepsake Collection.

This layout "I am learning with YOU", I did for a Special Mother's Day Class, and I'd like share with you because it is very special for me, because I did it for my son.
When we have a baby, we know we'll have to teach him everything, the most basic to the most complicated answers that he will one day make us! But sometimes we have no idea how much a child will teach us through life ... It was this inspiration that I created the project "I am learning with You", because every day my son teaches me something, but the biggest lesson I'm learning from him is that people are not we want them to be, even a child. A child is an individual one, which I can not shape, he has his faults and his qualities, and to me it accept it as it is, and love Him above all!

Keepsake Collection have the colors and the e patterned perfect for this layout.
I just need add some pearls, inks and trims for a perfect layout!

Lovely Day Project Share

Hi all and I'm super excited to be sharing with you my May projects in my very first post over here at the My Little Shoebox blog. I was able to "play" with the Lovely Day collection and here are my shares for you today....

Melts My Heart

In this page, I wanted to play a bit with the journaling blocks from the Lovely collection. I cut out three of them and placed them on the bottom of the page where I treated each one differently, housing my journaling and other elements like cut out paper and punched out butterflies.  I used two die cut banner pieces as an accent for my larger flower. They remind me of the ends of a ribbon.

Family Gamers

In this page, I used the “Lovely” collection’s graphic papers. I did add the birdhouse paper on the right edge which, if you notice, the way my son and husband in looking in the photo, leads them to that direction. Because this page is a masculine page, I used chevron and star shapes. I love layering items on top of each other like the circle accents, stars and brads in this page.

Mother's Day

I made this page a two page spread so I can fit all of my photos and still have room for my accents. I love how the papers from the Lovely collection are so soft and feminine in style that it fit perfectly for this page about last year’s Mother’s day celebration. To break up all of the boxy shapes of my photos and journaling/title block, I had cut out the papers into circles and made a border for most of them. I added some of the circles with foam adhesive so it will create some dimension.

For this card I used some more papers from the Lovely collection. I handcut the flower accent from paper to create my own embellishment and finished it off with some pearls. The bright pinks from the paper background, the flower and the red button really stands out against the mostly blue hue of the card.

Happy Mother's Day card using Lovely Day

Hi everyone.  Pattie here with a quick little card using the Lovely Day line.  I was really happy that I wouldn't be showing my card until after Mother's Day- no peeking right!

I love birdhouses and seem to use them relatively often in my own personal scrapping.  The colors of the Lovely Day paper line were just perfect to create this little birdhouse scene.  To create the rooftop, I cut strips of the Let the Sunshine paper with my scalloped scissors and covered a triangle of paper, starting from the bottom of the triangle, working your way to the pointed tip.  I then flip the paper over and trim the excess paper off.  Another fun trick if you are making a larger birdhouse (this card size is too small) is to use foam squares on the scalloped edge and tape runner on the other edge.  It gives great dimension and a cute look to the house.

Apple of My Eye

Hi ladies it's Zoe here today with a layout featuring Lovely Day... I really love this collection with so many different pastel colours you can create a layout about almost anything! For this layout I used a picture of my eldest (wiser than me) daughter.

I am posting a couple of close ups too so you can see some details :)

I used some of the die cut banners here.. almost gives the illusion that the photo it also floating in the clouds!!! or maybe that's just me :)

Lovely Day layout

Hello everyone!  This is Linda sharing a layout I made for My Little Shoebox with the Lovely Day collection. 

Creating this was really fun because of the wonderful, whimsical birds, flowers and birdcages.  This collection also gives you the opportunity to use the papers with elegant flowers, ribbons, pearls and laces for a different look! 

I used my granddaughter Lucy's Easter picture for this layout, and the colors are perfect for spring.

With this layout, I used one of the new We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 punches, and added some satin cord for emphasis.  The 3 D flowers, ribbon and lace completed this simple layout. I love using the Easy Breezy patterned paper as a background. I also enjoy the brown with blue and pink color combination.

 

This closeup shows the 3D Roll-up flowers.  I added some Diamond Stickles to them, with pearls in the center, added Dirty Martini Glam to the leaves, and used a Prima swirl to complete the picture.  The dimension they provide is fabulous!
