It's Megan, back again! This month I worked with the Aiko line, which I adore! I am just in love with cherry blossoms lately, so I couldn't wait to utilize the ones in this line! I made three very different layouts to show the versatility of this line, and a fun card.
On this first layout I wanted to use just the soft colors to create a soft feminine feel to match the picture of the adorable baby!
Since I loved the cherry blossoms so much, I couldn't wait to fussy cut them. I added some pop dots underneath for some dimension, and some pearls in the centers of some of the flowers for added feminine feel.
I used a ruffled strip of ribbon to mimic the softness of the purple blanket in the photo.
Finally, a cluster of rolled flowers with a die cut branch and one of the adorable little girls completes the page. There are other colors in this line, but sticking to a smaller color palette keeps this page soft and serene.
Supplies: My Little Shoebox Aiko - Little Princess, Bouquet, Blue Sky, One Fine Day, Flower Die Cut, Lipstick and Sage, My Little Shoebox Sprinkle Glaze Alphabet Sticker - Cotton Candy
Other: American Crafts Cardstock, Clearsnap Ink, May Arts ribbon, Helmar foam tape, sewing machine, Sizzix die and big shot
On this next page I went with a totally different color palette. I used mostly the blues with a little pop of the darker pinks and oranges.
Again, I couldn't help fussy cutting the flowers and making them stand out with some foam tape.
I also added a similar cluster to the title block.
Supplies: My Little Shoebox Aiko- One Fine Day, Blue Sky, Bouquet, Happy Notes, Flower Die Cut, Kiss and Sky, Lipstick and Sage, Cardstock Stickers. My Little Shoebox Lovely Day Stickers, My Little Shoebox Cherry Blossom Mini Alphabet Stickers,
Other: American Crafts Cardstock, Webster's Pages trim, EK Success punch, Sizzix die, sewing machine, Clearsnap ink, Helmar foam tape
For the last layout, I went in a totally different direction. I wanted to be grown up and a little bit funky. I started by misting the background cardstock with colors that match those in the papers I planned to use. Then I added a strip of the brighter pink, almost red, patterned paper. That makes the black and white photo stand out. The cloud and the fussy cut branch create movement and interest while breaking up the large section of journaling.
For the title, I mixed and matched some brighter fonts from a couple collections.
Where the pearls on the baby layout played up the softness, sparkly rhinestones complement the more grown up look here.
Supplies: My Little Shoebox Aiko - Blue Sky, Happy Notes and Cardstock stickers, My Little Shoebox Sprinkle Glaze alphabet in Ladybug, My Little Shoebox Lovely Day Stickers
Other: American Crafts cardstock, Kaisercraft bling, helmar foam tape, tattered angels glimmer mist
Finally, for the card, I had a vision in my head of a cherry blossom branch in front of a beautiful sunset. I stamped and heat embossed a design on the cardstock, then blended various inks to create the sunrise effect. Finally I added the fussy cut embellishments.
Again, foam tape provides some added dimension under the flowers and the girl. I also added some pearls to the flowers and some rhinestones to the little girl's dress.
Supplies: My Little Shoebox Aiko - Little Princess, Happy Notes and Blue Sky
Other: American Crafts cardstock, Clearsnap embossing powder and ink, Glossy Accents, Helmar foam tape
