Layouts with Secret Garden

This month I got to work with the Secret Garden line. I love the butterflies and fun colors in this line. I started out with a double page layout.

 I love double page layouts for being able to fit so many photos and still keep it clean.

 

 

 I used a sketch from northridge publishing for this one. For the stamped doilies, I inked the stamp, then stamped on a scrap paper before stamping on the background to get a lighter and slightly distressed looking stamp impression.

 I used glossy accents on the letters to make them pop against the layered die cuts.

 I used another sketch from northridge publishing for this page. I altered it to make more room for my journaling and accept my vertically oriented photo. I had a lot to say on this page and the lined paper provided a great place to add it.

 The butterfly stickers are adhered with foam tape to create the layers. A little bit of bling in the middle finishes it off.

 Here I made a paper bow out of the gorgeous blue dotted paper. I heat embossed the sentiment to make it pop.

Brighten Someone's Day with the Notebook Collection

Hello, MLS fans! It's Robyn with you today to share some projects I've been working on lately.

I'm not sure what the weather's like where you are, but in my hometown, the bright sunny days have come and gone. Skies are a little more gray, and the leaves are a little more brown. What a great time to bring out some bright colors in the craft room!

I created some cards using the Notebook collection that will hopefully brighten someone's day this fall:

I added a strip of rose trim to complement the roses in the paper.

Aren't the paper airplanes a cute way to send a long-distance greeting?

A rolled rose layered onto another punch-out flower is just the right finishing touch.

Ahh, boy meets girl. Perfect way to say "I love you."

The cardstock stickers make it so easy to create a sweet card.

I used the cardstock stickers on this one, as well -- aren't the roses beautiful?

I like to add a couple of stick pins to the top of a bow to create a vintage feel.

The colorful banners are so fun! I mixed the patterned paper with a border sticker to create this card.

Alphabet stickers complete the sentiment.

'Oh Deer' Creativity!

Today I am here to share a few of my projects that I have made with the 'Oh Deer' collection.  This is just such a fun set to create with especially at this time of year when all the leaves are changing colours (well unless you are in your spring months!)

First I would like to share with you a little notice board I altered.

Xcut leaf punch

It started out life as a plain cork board which I covered with the papers.  The patterned paper with the deers on is a fun background for when you haven't got the board filled with notes!!  The 'Oh Deer' trims were perfect for the criss cross and the 3D roll up flowers embellished the joins.  

Around the edge of the notice board I used some punched out leaves which added some texture to the board.  Of course I couldn't resist those cute deers from the cardstock sticker sheet!!  The muse alphabet stickers are perfect for adding a name to the board too.

Unity Stamp Co - MLS You Make Me Mushy

This card uses the co branded stamps from Unity, 'you make me mushy' and were coloured in using the Kuretake kurecolors.  I have a few more cards made using this stamp over on my blog.

Tuesday Tutorial with Keely

Hello, MLS friends!  I'm happy to share my latest home decor project with you today.  Hexagons are the latest designing rage.  I created this simple framed home decor project with a hexagon template I located online and my favorite MLS papers.

I chose MLS patterned papers from Notebook and Secret Garden collections and cut 5 hexagons from 4 different papers.  Next, I arranged the hexagons in a patterned that I liked and adhered them to a piece of brown cardstock.  I then, carefully, cut around the entire design and adhered to my background paper. 

I love the look of the repeating hexagons.  Wouldn't this also be great with repeating diamonds or different sized rectangles?

Cherry Good Time!!

Hi, MLS fans. Carol here today. I want to share a layout and a project that I made using Cherry Delight collection.

"Cherry Lantern"

When I first got this paper collection, I immediately thought of Chinese New Year!! The colors really suit the mood. So I made a Chinese Lantern. Its a decoration that the Chinese would put up in their homes during Chinese New Year. Even though it seems abit early for Chinese New Year, its never too early to make one. I love the different color of each side of the paper as it really bring out the lantern shape even more. Normally its made out of red packets. 

I used the rolled flower as the center for the bigger flower. Added some stickles to it.

Supplies: MLS Cherry Delight(Serenade, 3D Roll Up Flowers and Accents); The Twinery's Baker Twine; Glass Bead; Stapler.

"Malacca" Layout

I made this layout for our recent Church Camp at Malacca, Malaysia. I mat the papers with brown cardstock to bring out the different layers. Spritz some glimmer mists at the corner before adhere the stickers and flowers.

I combined both the cherry flower stickers and the roll up flowers to make them more dimensional.

For my project I used MLS's Cherry Delight along with the fun charms and bubble caps that were sent to us.

 

I couldn't pass up the chance to make a cute charm for my daughter's charm necklace. I love that it took me only about 5 seconds to make this charm yet it looks so professional.

Notebook Projects & more fun with Epiphany Crafts

Hello MLS fans!  Linda here with Day 3 of our team up with Epiphany Crafts and some fun projects from our Notebook Collection.

 

I love the colors in the Notebook collection and the flower stickers, banners, and little girl and boy!

Art Work is Fun!

This layout stars my granddaughter, Hannah, having lots of fun doing her own artwork!  The flower is one I made from layers of paper using a scalloped punch.  I enjoyed how the colors of the papers and various pieces from the collection came together!

Supplies:  MLS papers With Love, Always and Forever, Ruby Cardstock, Bits & Pieces; Cardboard Stickers; Red Lipstick Mini Alphabet Stickers; Ribbon

Next is a simple card using one of my favorite papers in this Notebook collection. 

 I used one of the new 6 inch We R Memory Keepers super 8 punches for the background.  Some lace and red seam binding  emphasize the little red flowers in the paper.  Three  cardstock stickers and the card was complete!

Supplies:  MLS paper Always and Forever; Cardboard Stickers, Ribbon and lace.

My second card is a total turnaround from the first two projects.  It has more of a vintage look, with the background paper, corrugated swirls, and inking of all edges and the doily.  I love how this collection gives you opportunities for completely different looks using the same collection!

My last card offered a wonderful, fun opportunity to combine the MLS Aiko collection with Epiphany Crafts products! 

I created the card using papers, cardboard stickers, and ribbon from MLS, and used Epiphany Bubble Caps and a Charm Setting to add embellishments.  The result was a colorful, unique card!

Vintage shop showcase + MLS & Epiphany Crafts project share

Hello friends. Grace here to share with you what I've created using the beautiful Vintage Shop line and celebrate Day 2 with Epiphany Crafts!

First I'll share November projects with our Vintage Shop collection. I love all the flowers and doily design in these papers and here's a sampling of what you can do with them.....

Bubbles Layout

Supplies Used:

Pattern papers- (20011 Rose Ribbon; 50012 French lace; 50013 Heirloom; 50014 Attic Treasures) Vintage shop; Stickers- (50016 Vintage Shop; 50104 Blue Hydrangea, Muse Cardstock Alphabet) Ribbon- 50014, Island Breeze; Die cut- 50015 Vintage Shop; Circle punch- EK Success, Marvy Uchida; Corrugated swirls, Pearls and rhinestones- Want2Scrap; Ink- Lipstick red, Colorbok; Mist- Chalk, Tattered Angels; Thread- Coats and Clark; Sewing Machine- Kenmore; Adhesives- Glue Arts, Glue Dot

I used a big chipboard shape as a template to create the shaped background from pattern paper. I misted the corrugated swirls with some glitter mist to give it more shine and match up with the girly theme of the layout. I wrapped some ribbon over glue to create my flower and then added a punched circle adorned with small pearls for the center. I added the title letters to punched circles, inked the edges and adhered it with foam adhesive to give it a floating feel which reminds me of the bubbles that my daughter was creating in the photos.

I used a lot of layering in this card and utilized the great stickers from the Vintage Shop line. I loved how with a little bit of imagination and foam adhesive, you can create a complete scene in a card.

I used the strips of paper from the Rose Ribbon pattern paper as ribbons in my card. I even cut one side of one of them into a notch to mimic a ribbon. I used the rose image as my visual triangle in the card.

Notes:

I used the star punch and epoxy stickers to make my handmade star accents in the banner and flag. The stars remind me of the “five-star” dining that we experienced during this special dining out experience.

I also used the stars as a visual triangle, leading the eye to three distinct places in the page.

I used the subtle colors of the Secret Garden papers to make my dark photos stand out better.

November Guest Designer: Kimber McGray

Hello My Little Shoebox fans and happy election day! It's an exciting day here on the MLS blog as we are so pleased to announce our November Guest Designer...

Kimber McGray!!

Here's a little bit about Kimber:

Kimber McGray Bio:

Always a crafter of some kind, Kimber McGray started scrapbooking 7 years ago and has never looked back. Obsessed would be a mild way of describing her love of paper crafting.

Over the past four years, Kimber's work has been published in Creating Keepsakes, BHG Scrapbooks Etc., Scrapbook Trends, Cards, Paper Crafts, CardMaker, Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine regular issues, as well as featured in different Idea Books. Her work has also appeared in major ad campaigns for We R Memory Keepers and Core’dinations. Kimber was also announced as a Hall of Fame 2007 winner with Creating Keepsakes. Kimber's 1st book, Scrapbook Secrets was released in May 2009. She co-authored Remember This, which was released June 2010.  Her 3^rd book with F + W Publications, 175 Fresh Card Ideas was released in August 2010. Her 4th book with F + W Publications, 100 Fresh and Fun Handmade Cards was released in March 2012.

She enjoys working with all different aspects of the industry by designing in all realms. She is currently designing Jillibean Soup and Two Peas in a Bucket. This helps her keep her work fresh and new as well as challenge her to use different products daily.

She lives in Carmel, Indiana, with her husband Bill of 13 years and two children, Andrew (9) and Laura (7).

Secret Garden { Cards } and teaming up with Epiphany Crafts!

Hello My Little Shoebox fans! It’s Monique today with three cards I created with the awesome new “Secret Garden” collection and a fun project I featuring Epiphany Crafts.

We're teaming up with Epiphany Crafts all week long and sharing some fun creations. Don't miss my Epiphany project further down in today's post!

Let me start with the “Love You” card.

I really like to use lots of layers on a card and that’s how I started this card.

First I chose one of the journaling cards (love), layered it on an old book page, then layered it on a piece of “Ocean” paper and then on the butterfly side of “Dorothy”. Before adhering it to my card base I stitched along all 4 edges. All I had to do now was add a few embellishments: butterfly and flower stickers from the sheet of Secret Garden Cardstock Stickers, a bling butterfly from Want2Scrap and the rest of the title (cut with my Cameo).

The second card is this “Thank You For Being YOU” card.

This card I started with the sentiment, which I wanted to be the centre of the card (cut with my Silhouette Cameo). I placed it on the heart shaped doily, chose two patterned papers and cut squares (the yellow side of Bonbons and the blue polka dot side of Dorothy), machine stitched the sides and then layered them all on top of each other. With 2 butterfly stickers from the sheet of Secret Garden Cardstock Stickers, some ribbon (Wildflower) and a laser cut butterfly from Want2Scrap it was done in no time.

And my last card is this “Thank YOU” card (“you” is on the inside).

When creating this card I started with the layered background (both sides of “Sweetie”), added 2 strips of paper on the left side and machine stitched the sides. I then added the banner in the right top corner using the banner die-cuts from the “3D Roll-Up Flower and Accents” sheet (used my scissors to cut them in the desired shape). On top of it I adhere half a journaling sticker from the cardstock sticker sheet , added 2 more banner pieces and a sentiment and placed a small piece of doily under the top. Because I found the card too “empty” I added some ribbon on the left side of the card and a cluster in the left bottom corner of the card.

Hope I’ve inspired you to create some cards too.
