Ring in the New Year

Ready to ring in the new year? Today I have a few New Years Eve rink-e-dinks to share with you using My Little Shoebox's Keepsake collection. I chose this collection because of its great colors and prints.

This hanging decoration is made to look like a clock. I used Keepsake's round die cut sheets (3 of them), folded them accordion style and put them all together. It's a large decoration, about 12 inches round and its going to look great hanging from the ceiling.

We have a tradition in my house that at midnight we let our children make as much noise as possible either with their voices or noise makers (which are often the same thing;)). I bought a package of party horns and altered them by covering them with My Little Shoebox paper and stickers.

And finally, a simple card to wish you all a Happy New Year. May 2013 be the best ever!

Playing with Backgrounds

Hello, MLS fans! It's Robyn here with you today. Hope you've had a wonderful holiday season and found some crafty time here and there.

Whenever I find a few extra minutes, I switch on my Silhouette and start playing with the shapes I've downloaded over the past year (about 300!). One of my favorites is a trellis background. I decided to see how it would mix with the Secret Garden collection from My Little Shoebox.

I set the background to cut at about 10x10, then layered it onto the polka dot background paper. But it still needed something, so I used the pieces that were the "holes" to fill in spaces here and there. Some of them I flipped to the reverse side.

I found that I liked some order in the pattern, so I alternated the front and back of the paper in diagonal lines to create the background for the layout.

I love the finished product -- the cut paper gives it a textured look and the mixed patterns remind me of a quilt piecing.

Coming Home Layout

Hi Jenifer here with you today to share a fun quick layout with you.  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and can sit back and relax now that the hustle and bustle is over.

My layout is a quick and easy one.  I cut out a circle and then used a border punch a few trips of the same patterned paper then cut them out and re-glued them back on the circle to create a fun border.  I used the Coming Home collection, and just like all of the other collections it is so easy to write out some quick journaling and place some foam squares on the chipboard stickers and you come out with a lovely but quick layout:)

Deer Friend card set

One of the things I've been doing a lot of lately with my card making is to make card sets. I've had friends come up to me and had been asking to buy my cards so sometimes I put together coordinated sets that I give them as a gift. This way they have a bunch to use and they're all coordinated. 

I think the best part of using a collection in making your card sets is that the prints and accents all match together. No need to rummage through a bunch of supplies to create these babies!

Perpetual Tag Calendar with Notebook

I have been loving working with the Notebook line and I wanted to do something with all the journaling cards. At this time of year, I often think about calendars, but I wanted something a little different. So, I made this perpetual calendar - to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries that occur in each month. These journaling cards are just perfect. There is plenty of space for about 10-15 events, depending on how small you write and how big your family is.

This book came together pretty quickly. I cut all the pages out of cardstock using my cricut. Then I cut more of the same size tags out of some of the patterned papers using my cricut. I took those patterned paper tags and cut them apart into a top, bottom and middle. I used the top and bottom on the front of a cardstock tag, and the middle on the back, to provide interest. Since they had been cut to the same size, there was no need to trim or anything.

I matted the journaling cards on white cardstock and then machine sewed them to a slightly larger block of contrasting patterned paper to give a little bit of added interest. The sewing was the part that took the longest, but I love the look. It's flat, so the book can close, but it adds dimension and texture.

Finally, I added the titles for each page in mini alphas on die cuts using dimensional foam tape. Again, the foam tape gives a little bit of dimension without a lot of bulk. A few more stickers here and there complete the look.

A little holiday cheer with Secret Garden

Hello MLS friends. Today I sharing some holiday inspiration using our Secret Garden collection.

I love making holiday tags so I thought I would take some tags and embellish them into holiday tags using bits and pieces of things I have in my stash.

 

Merry Christmas to you

For this tag I added a doily for a shabby chic look and an Anna Griffin foil sentiment. The bird is Melissa Frances and some Prima roses. The ribbon is from Michaels and so is the adhesive glitter star.

Tree tag

 

The tree die is the main focus of this tag. I used 3D foam to adhere it to the base of the tag and tied some of the green seam binding from the Oh Deer! collection.

For this tag I used another foil sentiment from Anna Griffin and a Tattered Angels frame. I made a flag and traced the outline in glitter and finished with seambinding and a star from Melissa Frances.

For this tag I used another doily and 3D embellishment from Anna Griffin. I finished with seam binding and a button from the French General.

These all turned out so pretty and soft. Perfect for kraft paper packaging! I hope you'll give some a try.

Grace's Secret Garden Projects

Hello MLS friends. Hope you are all doing well this winter day. And I hope that you guys are are all prepared for Christmas and is now in the "enjoying" phase. I know for me I have intentionally changed my preparations and what kind of "traditions" I want to really fulfill this season because I know that if I try to do it all, it will just stress me out. 

And what do you do to de-stress? Mine of course is papercrafting! Here are some examples of my latest projects using the new Secret Garden collection. They have such happy prints on them and I got a bit crazy with the die cut shapes. *wink*

Scrapp Queen Plaque

I found a wood plaque at my local thrift store and decided to dress it up so I can use it as a decoration in my scrapbook room. I made the title cut from my die cut machine using two solid colored papers from My Little Shoebox and layered it to create the two-toned look. I then used the rolled die cut flowers to add some dimensional embellishments in my wood plaque. I also added some stickers from the Secret Garden collection to give it a finished look. Now it’s all ready to be displayed!

Happy Birthday card

I used a scallop die cut made from my die cut machine in the center of my card to hold my title. I added some stickers around it to create dimension and texture. I added some pen stitching around the card to ground the design.

Tuesday Tutorial

Hello MLS fans. It's Tuesday and that means another fun tutorial from our team. Today I am sharing some fun ideas for our roll up flowers.

I love to emboss and ink paper so it's only natural that I wanted to try embossing our die cut flowers.

I punched them out from the sheet and chose an embossing folder.

Next I added some ink

Then I rolled them up and used hot glue to secure them.

Now you just need to add them to your card or layout and the results are really nice. I added some stickles to the outline of the vines in our leaves to make them stand out.
