 Hello MLS fans! Hooray for Friday!! It's been a busy week and we can hardly believe it's Friday! On our Facebook page we asked our fans what their weekend plans were and many of you told us scrapbooking, crops and meet ups to scrap with a friend. We'd love to see what you are creating with MLS so share your work with us on our Facebook page. Today we're sharing some projects from designers Beckie and Zoe and offering up your chance at some free product!

Designer's Tip: Don't be afraid to add a little splatter of paint to add dimension and interest to your layouts.

We spotted some fun projects on our Facebook page this week. Thanks to everyone who shared their work with us. We thought this layout using papers from our Holly Jolly collections from Barbara McEneaney Mahlmann that was posted on our Facebook wall was fun!

Celebrate Spring with Ilene

Well...it was quite a busy weekend on our Facebook page. We are so excited that you all really enjoyed the Trick or Treating! Celebrate Spring

Oh this layout has sooo many beautiful elements and the black accents are perfect.

I love the little butterfly from our clear stamp set used here on the banners...so cute!

Designer's Tip: To make the most of your stamps, you can use them to create custom embellishments! Just stamp using the stamps that go with whichever collection you're working with using Staz On ink on Shrinky Dinks and then color with permanent markers, using whatever colors would suit your layout best. Then bake according to instructions and within minutes, you have really cute matching embellies for your layout. Here, I made little butterflies for the banner and centers for some of the flowers using this method. It's a technique that's quick, fun, easy, and very cost effective.

Guest Designer Thursday

In the Garden with Zoe

Hello MLS fans! Thanks for the huge buzz all of you generated with out sneak peek yesterday. We are so excited that you are looking forward to our summer collections! We are only 12 fans away from reaching our 4000 fan goal and then someone will win our Playtime collection before you can even buy it in the stores!!

Today we're getting into our Garden Party collection with inspiration from designer Zoe Nemburt. Zoe has created some beautiful layouts to share with you today.

My Sweet Fashionista

Designer's tip: I love the Journaling die cuts that come with each collection, I used almost a whole pack on this layout, they look great, peeking out from between the layers.

Spring is Here

Designer's Tip:  I love die cuts and My little Shoebox seriously has the best die cuts on the market, and you can use them in 1001 different ways but for this layout I layered the “cut off” portion over the die cut on the layout for a pretty cool layered look.

Designer's Tip:  Creating Grid layouts is a new favourite thing for me to do, I love layers and you can create your own mini pictures within the layout, layer the grids on a contrasting cardstock to make them pop.

Finally we're finishing off today's post with a sweet Thank you card that Zoe created

Designer's Tip: I love to add dimension to cards and this is super simple to achieve even with a small simple card like this one, I added foam squares behind the flower, and tied some sweet bakers twine to add the dimension and interest to this card.

Cards and more with Garden Party

Hello MLS fans! We hope you had a great weekend! We're excited to be starting another week of My Little Shoebox inspiration here at our blog. We've given Keely our Garden Party collection to create with and she made some super cute projects to share with you today.

First we have a gift bag and card set

Love the faux stitching (no sewing required just black pen)

Next Keely created this adorable card with our Garden Party clear stamps and coordinating paper.

This beautiful hello card has such an old fashioned feel. The rose is just stunning on this card. If you love it too, Keely has some step by step instructions below for re-creating your own flowers.

When creating these fun flowers, I find that a flower with 8 petals works best, but you can also adapt the design to work with other flower diecuts. No diecuts? Try drawing your own 8 petal flower. Art isn't meant to be perfect :)

1. Cut 5 diecut flowers. I cut these 2 1/2" each. Just remember, the bigger the diecuts, the bigger your final flowers. My diecuts have the center cut out, but you can use solid flowers.

2. Cut one petal from the first flower, two petals from the second flower, three petals from the third flower, four flowers from the fourth flower, and five petals from the fifth flower.
(Insert pic 3)
3. Use a quick drying glue (I like Zip Dry) or a hot glue gun to glue each flower into a ring. If your flowers are solid, they will form a cone. Snip off the the tip of the cones, so your flowers will lie flat.

 4. Adhere the layers to form your flower. I like to ink around each layer for shading. These are also beautiful lightly painted with glue and sprinkled with glitter. Just perfect for your Summer projects.

Friday fun with Mandy

Hello MLS! It's already the weekend again! Today we are sending you off with some beautiful work from Mandy Starner who created with our Garden Party this month. Let's take a look at some of the fun ideas Mandy has for you today.

Flowers For Me?

We love how Mandy used the Blooming Trails patterned paper as background so that the scalloped die cut would pop off the page.

Speaking of "POP" check out these beautiful flowers. Mandy created so much interest here by all the layering an dimension.

Friday project with Pearl

Hello MLS fans! Can you believe it's already Friday? We are ending the week with a cute little project from Pearl Liu.

For today's post she has created some adorable carrot boxes with the Fresh from the Field patterned paper from our Farmers Market collection.

 

Pearl wanted to share the link to Rubber Stampin Zone, where she found the template for those that would like to give this project a try.

Here's some tips from Pearl to help you create these adorable boxes at home

I simply printed the template directly onto the pattern paper , cut along the lines and scored and folded along the dotted lines of the template to form the basic box. 

For one box, I hand cut green leaves and for the other box  I cut a piece of green pattern paper into little strips ( not more than 1/4") and curled them for a fun, dimensional carrot top.

 Finally, I used some of the Farmer's Market journaling tags to add sentiments and finish them off.
