Melinda's Tip: Layouts can sometimes get a little crowded and overstated so I tried to keep this layout fairly simple with pops of embellishments to enhance the overall appearance. I also tried something a bit different and cut one rounded corner for all three layers of the backing sheets to add that touch of difference.

Shelly's Notes: I used only the back sides for this layout and actually cut small strips on one side and curled the paper in at varying lengths.  Then I attached another B side underneath for a unique effect.

Ilene's Notes: You can buy kits of various-sized imitation pearls really cheaply at big-box stores - I got mine at ACMoore with a 50% off coupon, and it came with various sizes and colors of pearls. These really large pearls make perfect flower centers, especially for the cute Roll-Up flowers!

Linda's Tip:  I used the banners as an accent at the bottom of the layout.  I also used the stickers, colored them with copic markers, added some stickles, and used foam stickers to add dimension.

Mandy's Notes: On this layout, I cut out the circles with the flower and the bird and layered them over the pieces on the layout with pop dots so they were at the same level as the hopscotch sticker. Popped up elements always look better in 3's.

Project Friday with Kristine and Becky

Hello MLS fans. It's project Friday and time for another fun project idea from our talented design team. Today Kristine and Becky are teaming up on the blog to bring you today's inspiration using our Platyime and Pretty Little Things collections.

Kris's Tips: I had so much fun creating this flower arrangement using the beautiful B-sides of the Playtime papers.  Each of the 12 flowers has 3 layers of paper cut at 3.25 inches, 2.75 inches, and 1 inch that are centered with a button and embellished with dots of white fabric paint.  I used my hot glue gun to adhere them to the dowel rods.  I inserted the rods into a piece of floral foam that I had cut down in size to fit snugly into the flower pot.  I covered the floral foam with "grass" which I made by running a couple sheets of the green paper through my paper shredder and then folding each shredded piece back and forth.  Some green, brown, and white ribbons finished the arrangement off.  I can't wait to display this in my daughter's bedroom!

Kristines Tips: I used several of the B-sides of this collection's patterned papers to create a soft, feminine layout of my daughter being held by my goddaughter.  I added border punched white cardstock and I hand-stitched around the edge of the page with white floss to compliment the bright white highlights in the photo.

Other: twine, glossy accents, Ranger Stickles glitter glue, rub-on by Pebbles Inc.

Becky's Notes: I wanted this card to be more simple in design so I cut out the cute little ladybug and used one of the cardstock stickers as the focal point of the card. I then added bits of glitter glue for more dimension and to add some spark to the card.

Becky's Notes: I have three little girls who love to write and draw and their papers often are found scattered around the house. For my project this month I decided to cover a few composition notebooks for my girls so that they would have their own personalized books to keep their art projects together in one place.

Ilene's Tip: I bought the kraft gift bag at Michael's - it came in a pack of 13 for $6 and after using my 50% off coupon, it came out to be less than a quarter per bag. This is an extremely cheap way to make very cute gift bags and it adds a nice personal touch....not to mention that they're fun to make!

 

 

Gift Bag Detail

Tip: To create the tree, I used my Cottage Cuts/ My Little Shoebox die from the Playtime line to cut out the tree trunk. Then, I used one of the die-cut 3-D roll up flowers to make the top of the tree. First, ink the edges, then put some low-profile pop dots or foam dots in the center of the die-cut and glue it down, so the edges are flat on the paper, while the center comes up a little. This is a really quick way to create a dimensional tree!
