Sweetheart Sketch challenge

Hello MLS fans! It's exactly one week until Valentine's Day. Have you been making Valentines for your kids to take to school or for your very own Sweetheart? Melinda's Tip: Layouts can sometimes get a little crowded and overstated so I tried to keep this layout fairly simple with pops of embellishments to enhance the overall appearance. I also tried something a bit different and cut one rounded corner for all three layers of the backing sheets to add that touch of difference.

Shelly's Notes: I used only the back sides for this layout and actually cut small strips on one side and curled the paper in at varying lengths.  Then I attached another B side underneath for a unique effect.

Ilene's Notes: You can buy kits of various-sized imitation pearls really cheaply at big-box stores - I got mine at ACMoore with a 50% off coupon, and it came with various sizes and colors of pearls. These really large pearls make perfect flower centers, especially for the cute Roll-Up flowers!

Linda's Tip:  I used the banners as an accent at the bottom of the layout.  I also used the stickers, colored them with copic markers, added some stickles, and used foam stickers to add dimension.

Winter Wonderland Monday

Happy New Year MLS fans! It's a brand new year full of possibilities! If you've made some resolutions to scrap more we've got plenty of inspiration to share with you here on the My Little Shoebox blog.

Today Rocio is sharing some projects she created with Winter Wonderland.

I know the holidays are over for some but I thought you might like an idea for a quick and easy holiday wreath for your homes.

You can create fun paper bows with scraps of paper.

Use border punches like these ones from Martha Stewart to create decorative strips to easily wrap around the wicker wreath.

 

I also created a few cards to share as well

I made another fun paper box for this card.

The coordinating Winter Wonderland cardstock stickers make it easy to create holiday cards quickly.

Winter Wonderland with Shelly

Happy Day after Christmas! We hope you had a wonderful holiday with your families. Today designer Shelly Berg has some inspiration with our Winter Wonderland collection to share.

Shelly created a fun and easy to create, holiday countdown with this gorgeous frame.

Holiday Advent Calendar

Shelly's Notes: For the advent calendar I simply used an old frame and some twine, and once decorated I used twine, ribbon, staples or mini clothespins to attach the tags to the twine.  On the back of each tag is a message, a Christmas memory, a coupon for a treat, etc.

Here are a few cards Shelly created using Winter Wonderland and some Unity Stamp Co. Co-Branded stamps.

 

Shelly's notes: For the Christmas tree card, I drew the tree free hand and then used all sorts of border punches and ribbon and adhered them to the tree layer by layer and then trimmed.  I ended up with a simply and fun card to send.

Winter Wonderland with Nicole and Linda

Today Linda and Nicole are sharing their designs with our Winter Wonderland collection. This collection is so fun to create holiday cards and scrap your winter memories. Let's take a look at what Linda Kretz created first.

Let it Snow card

Supplies:  My Little Shoebox Winter Wonderland (Winter Folly, Gum Drop Lane, and Snowflake Valley papers), Stickers, Banners, Peppermint Stick Mini alphabet stickers, and Roll-Up Flowers.  I also used white Flower Soft, and Diamond Stickles..

Linda's Tip:  I created a window, pop dotted over my  winter scene., created some snow with Flower Soft, and added some stickles for emphasis.  This wonderful collection from My Little Shoebox lends itself to lots of fun creating Christmas cards and layouts.

LET IT SNOW:

When it comes to cards it is fun to mix it up a bit so for this card I went with a 4x4 using the Snow Flake Valley paper. The beautiful detailing on the B side of Snow Flake Valley adds such a pretty touch when used as a border. I wrapped the card with bakers twine and then layered the snowman cardstock sticker with the Glittered Alphas. What I love about the 4x4's is they are quick, cute and super easy to make.

This picture had been in my stack of "must scrap" for awhile, so when I took a closer look at Boughs of Holly I squealed a little! Avery's polka dot pajamas were her all time favorites and the whimsical colors in the Starburst, Counting Down, and Winter Folly just fit the theme for the layout perfectly! The layout needed a couple 3D elements to the page and the tiny bows of bakers twine on the cardstock sticker trees and the polkadot clouds from the diecut sheet were just what I was looking for! 

Tree Ornament #1

#1 ORNAMENT: {front & back}

This is the first of 25 ornaments I created to decorate our Christmas tree this year. The ornament is simple, however the poinsietta made out of the Snow Flake Valley paper and the square flag diecut makes this ornament. I used a flower punch from EK Success and trimmed the round ends to be slightly more pointy to resemble the holiday flower. I then cut the square flag diecut in half, distressed it using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and layered it to appear as leaves. The pearls in the center were leftover from an old play dress that my daughters outgrew so it adds that sentimental touch. To create the subtle sparkle border I used glossy accents and Martha Stewarts Crystal Fine glitter. 

Tree Ornament #2

#4 ORNAMENT: {front}

This is one of 25 ornaments, possibly my favorite. We have moved a lot in the past year and sadly our Christmas decorations didn't make the trip with us. Thankfully, the Winter Wonderland collection can serve as winter play paper AND Christmas themed so this year our tree will be decorated with Winter Wonderland ornaments. I cut two rectangles out of the Starburst paper then layered them to look like a gift with a removable top. The bow was made with two strips of the Boughs of Holly paper just folded on one another and secured with a Zot and decorated with a button. The Peppermint Stick Mini Alphas helped share the sentiment for blessing number 4!

Winter Wonderland with Pattie & Erin

Erin's Notes: I love how this one came together- the most magical place on Earth combined with the fun, whimsical designs from Helen I think are a perfect match!  I paper pieced, punched out some scallop circles and then added the stickers with dimension so they would really pop!  I thought the tree was a nice touch, and enjoy the softness in this line so the photo can really shine!

Erin's notes: The background is one of my favorite papers in this beautiful collection...so after I added stickler to the snow and snowflakes, I knew I wanted to have something in the center that would pop!  A red snowflake was born and then I hand cut the 25 from the Counting Down paper and attached some bakers twine!

Erin's Notes: What better way to showcase Helen's beautiful roll flowers than in a sweet little oval mini shadow box of sorts?  I simply layered the coordinating papers and added the flowers in a cluster inside the oval frame.  Then, accented with holly stickers and some bling!
